Ch 6 & 11 Reading Responses Blog Assignment

1. Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom -
I would have to say that I would prefer a classroom with more technology. I would like a classroom with more technology because not only can it help assist me, but my students as well! Its always great to have computers for the students to use because there are tons of educational websites that they can use that will keep their interest. Also having electronic whiteboards in the classroom can do wonders! The electronic whiteboard can save images, allowing editing and printing. The electronic whiteboard can also be connected in different locations via the Internet so that the writing in one location can be shared at other locations at the same time (154). Although I wouldn't want my students to rely on technology, but for certain activities and plans I would much rather have more technology available to my students than less.

2. Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies-
Audio-
Traditional- film projector, VCR, This is an older device that teachers used when all the up-to-date technology was not around
Emerging- would be the computer display, DVD player, computer CD-ROM, and the Internet audio.
Visual-
Traditional- overhead projector, which is something that has been around for a while. That displays teacher made transparencies against a screen, classroom wall, or whiteboard.
Emerging- would be a document camera. This displays real time still images, real time 3D objects, shows photographic slides, transparencies and captures video images.

These four objects can still be use in the classroom for various reasons. There can never be to much technology in a classroom. The traditional VCR can still be used to show educational movies that are older that aren't on a disk but still a video tape. The emerging DVD player is wonderful to use in the classroom because now of days a lot of things are on DVDs, and the teacher can show up to date educational videos. The over head projector can still be used in the classroom because students can use these during a lesson and actually write on them which would make them more interested in learning. The emerging document camera can be used as well, by the teacher, because it can show more information than an over head projector can such as the 3D objects and capture videos. This would be great to use for science class.
